Library Construction on project and fundraising

The community library, located at 5108 Roland Avenue, is a very popular site for children and adults. At this time, the library is closed and is undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion. The library is expected to reopen in the fall of 2007. During remodeling, information concerning alternative library facilities can be found at http://www.epfl.net/branches/rln/. A schedule for the bookmobile is located here. If you have questions concerning the library renovation, you can send them to Library@RolandPark.org.

June 29: Rear section leveled
July 13: Excavation begins along Blackberry Lane

August 22: Lower level opening to become new front door
August 30:Foundation takes shape for circular staircase

September 28: Steel beam swings into position
October 22: Steel decking covers the lower level
November 3: Outside view of occulus' steel framing
November 3: From inside addition's lower level, with new concrete slab, looking back toward existing building

January 23: Metal roof and wall framing around stair cylinder in rear
January 26: Metal framing, electrical rough-in on lower level
February 3: Color construction tableau, red line, blue tarp, yellow insulating membrane and green lift
February 23: Roof sheathing goes up

August 22: North side, the walls are going up
August 22: Opening in north wall to connect with new addition

September 21: Circular staircase rises higher
September 28: Steel beams arrive
September 28: Steel beam bolted into position
October 22: Steel framing for occulus above the children's reading area

November 3: Block walls of upper level form rear corner
January 23, 2007: Roof trusses in place
January 26: Vaulted ceiling in main reading room will be restored; cables, used to hold up false ceiling, added in the 1960's, will be removed
